These are roads we write about because they carry most first trips. None of them need to be finished in one go.
Wild Atlantic Way
A signed coastal touring route along the west of Ireland, from the south-west up toward Donegal. Tourism Ireland and Fáilte Ireland mark it as a single corridor. You will see the wavy symbol on brown signs. Use it as a hint for the next headland, not as a list to clear.
If the forecast is a week of Atlantic fronts, drop inland to the N17 or the N6 and keep the cliffs for a clearer morning.

N59 Connemara
Galway toward Clifden, then on toward Westport if you still have light. Bog, water, and a road that asks you to slow down. Good as a two-day out-and-back from this desk.

Causeway Coastal Route
A marked drive on the north coast of Northern Ireland, often taken between Belfast and Derry / Londonderry. The Giant's Causeway is a National Trust site with its own tickets and weather closures. Check that site before you go, not this page.

Dublin to Belfast by train
Enterprise trains run between the two cities. You skip the M1, the border car park, and a day of rain on the windscreen. Buy from the operators. We do not sell seats.

Iveragh peninsula
Often called the Ring of Kerry. It is one peninsula. A full loop with stops is a long day. If you start late from Killarney, cut it and walk one valley instead.
